Pap Smear Abnormal

On a pap smear, abnormal interpretations may include cervical dysplasia caused by HPV. If testing for cervical abnormalities concludes that cellular irregularities exist, a physician may direct follow up procedures such as repeat tests, including colposcopy and cervical biopsy. A co-collection of HPV test sample may provide an advantage of avoiding additional clinical procedures. On a pap smear, abnormal interpretations may include cervical dysplasia caused by HPV.

Cervical, HPV

Only 10 out of every 100 HPV infected women will be diagnosed with dysplasia and only one of those ten women with atypical cytology findings will have cancer of the invasive type. Irregular cytology findings do not necessarily mean that a woman has or will have cancer. On a pap smear, abnormal interpretations may include cervical dysplasia caused by HPV.
