Pap smear cells found that are abnormal will usually be accompanied by vaginal discharge or vulvar vestibulitis. This procedure consists of inserting speculum to widen the vagina and taking a sample of cervical tissue. The tissue is then placed on the glass slide and examined under a microscope for any abnormal changes in the size and shape. If the results are positive, follow-up care is necessary. Pap smear cells found that are abnormal will usually be accompanied by vaginal discharge or vulvar vestibulitis.

Unusual vaginal discharge, pain, and bleeding between periods are the signs of cervical cancer that sometimes may have no symptoms at all. The best way to diagnose cervical cancer and prevent the development of the disease is to perform Papanicolaou testing. Pap smear cells found that are abnormal will usually be accompanied by vaginal discharge or vulvar vestibulitis.
