Pap smear abnormal cells can mean anything from venereal wart and vulvar vestibulitis to cervical cancer.
Abnormalities in the tissue may also be due to infections, HOV, HIV, and other causes. Though usual, the tissue may not be cancerous. Women with positive tests should undergo regular check-ups until they have 3 consecutive negative tests. After the infection has been treated, the test will appear negative. Yeast infections, trich, gonorrhea, and chlamydia lead to the inflammation of the tissue resulting in a positive test.
