Atypical Pap
Atypical pap is not a problem in itself, as a pap smear test shows any abnormalities, but with a cone biopsy it is possible to detremine their nature.
The classifications help physicians determine the appropriate treatment for related cervical problems. If the cervical cells are analyzed and discovered to be unusual, these differences are classified from mild, moderate, and severe dysplasia to carcinoma in situ, and severe invasive cancer.

However, true cancer (carcinoma in situ and invasive cancer) usually requires surgical procedures. Unusual changes in cervical cells in most cases can be treated without invasive measures. Dysplasia describes a pre-cancer condition where cervical cells appear somewhat abnormal under a microscope. Atypical pap is not a problem in itself, as a pap smear test shows any abnormalities, but with a cone biopsy it is possible to detremine their nature.
