Abnormal cells pap smear, vaginal wart and other vulvar disorders can be results of HPV.
As the result, they lead to cervix inflammation making the cells look unusual. Women tested positively should not readily assume that they have cervical cancer since changes in the cells’ shape and size may be caused by infections and other cancer unrelated diseases.

A repeat procedure is recommended every 4-6 months for about two years. If the cells have been diagnosed as non-cancerous, a woman has to return to hospital for follow-up care including further Papanicolaou testing to make sure the cells have turned normal after necessary treatment. Abnormal cells pap smear, vaginal wart and other vulvar disorders can be results of HPV.
